The “Publishing Advocate” Ceremony
During this ceremony Mr. Mohamed-Hussein Saffar-Harrandy, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and Mr. Francis Richard, an expert on Iran, of Louvre Museum delivered speeches. In his speech Mr. Saffar-Harrandy affirmed the important role books play in reshaping a society and its culture and emphasized on the importance of supporting the nation’s publications, and appealed to the publishers and writers alike to help promote book reading by enriching the contents of their books.

The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance continued by expressing: “in the event of a reading epidemic, we hope, in the near future, to witness a rise in the number of printed books and be able to reward our exemplary readers in the upcoming years.”

After the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance ended his speech a number of authors, editors, publishers, and etc. were recognized as the best publishing advocates and curators of handwritten scripts. Mr. Mahmoud Hakimi (best author), Mr. Mokhtar Ghanoun the managing director of the Industry and Mining Organization of Tehran Province (best advocate), and Ghasem Nazifi the manager of Tehran Islamic Publishing (best Publisher) are among some of the participants who were awarded for their invaluable and generous services to the nation’s publication.

Additionally, some of the members of “the advocates of the print industry” family (printers, lithographers, and binders) Mr. Mahmoud Pishali (Zafar Printing), Ibrahim Kadian (Kadian Printers of Khouzestan), Ali Khosravi (Mojan Lithographers), and Ismail Shakibi-Far (Shakib Binding) were acknowledged during this 13th annual “publishing advocates recognition” ceremony.
